Welcome

The Kappa Iota chapter at the University of Nebraska at Omaha has become an integral part of the band program. Through service, leadership, and musicianship our brothers have been able to enhance the participation in our band program for all members. We continue to strive for the highest in every way we can.

FAQs About Kappa Kappa Psi

What is Kappa Kappa Psi?

Kappa Kappa Psi is a co-educational national honorary band service fraternity. Our members advance college and university bands for the benefit of its members and society through dedicated service and support to bands, encouragement of musical growth, lifelong educational experiences, leadership opportunities, and recognition.

Who can join Kappa Kappa Psi?

Any student who is currently a member of a UNO band (Symphonic Wind Ensemble, University Band, Jazz Bands, Maverick Marching Band, Maverick Machine Pep Band) is eligible to be considered for membership.

Do I have to be a music major to join?

No you do not! Membership is open to all students on the UNO campus, regardless of major. Our chapter is host to majors ranging across all academic fields at UNO.

Can I still be in a social greek group?

Yes! Membership in a social greek fraternity or sorority and a membership in Kappa Kappa Psi is allowed.

What do you actually do?

We serve the band in numerous ways. Setting up and tearing down for concerts, assisting the Maverick Marching Band on performance days, serve the UNO Bands faculty during festivals and contests, and help with moving equipment for the Maverick Machine Pep Band.
